Wills, trusts & probate:
Planning for the future

Peace of mind

No one likes to think about what happens when they die, but if you want to make your loved ones as financially secure as they deserve, you need to make a valid will. If you do not make a will, the Intestacy Rules may apply, producing a distribution of your wealth you did not intend.

We can draft your will and ensure it is validly executed, to ensure it does not create unintended problems for your loved ones.

Preserving your wealth for your loved ones

Before making a will, we can help you consider everything relevant, such as how to protect your Estate as far as possible from avoidable taxation, who to entrust with the responsibility of acting as Executor, and what needs to be arranged for any children, especially if they have particular needs. If we believe that trust arrangements will help achieve your aims, we can draft the necessary trust deeds.

For business owners, we can advise you on the legal aspects of succession planning.

If you have care fees to plan for, we can advise you on whether you can adjust your affairs to preserve your assets, and how to get all the funding from the state you are entitled to.

If you have made a will already, is it up to date? Marriage may invalidate it, and if it was made several years ago, your will might need adjusting to take into account changes to the tax rules or to your means and circumstances.

Our experienced wills and trusts specialists have helped many local clients, including business owners and high net worth families, plan their finances and affairs with tax efficiency in mind.

Distribution of your estate

Coping with the pain of losing a loved one and managing the necessary legal requirements can be difficult. You can therefore provide for one of our experienced team to act as Executor of your Estate, to spare your loved ones from undue worry. Your loved ones can also appoint our team to help them deal with probate matters if they so wish, even if we are not named as Executors.

If no will was left, we can obtain a Grant of Letters of Administration, and ensure the distribution of assets complies with the Intestacy Rules.

We offer fair charging, and fixed fees, where appropriate. Talk to us about your needs without obligation, so we can advise you of your options.
